In the 21st April LNSO performed Juris Karlson’s Visions of Joseph and a cinema concert The Fall of the House of Usher. In the first part of the concert we heared Juris Karlson’s Visions of Joseph– a piece full of faraway secrets and starry glow with a spectacular solo by Daumants Kalniņš. Afterwards, on the second part of the concert we had a chance to experience screening of the movie The Fall of the House of Usher with a musical accompaniment by LNSO. The audience could hear many masterpieces of impressionism, such as Debussy’s La cathedrale engloutie, Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte, and also Ainārs Rubiķis (the conductor) introduced us to some rarely heared pieces f.e. a fragment from Honegger’s ballet Le Dit des Jeux du Monde, Mimaamaquim, Third Symphony’s third part Dona nobis pacem and a fragment from Debussy’s ballet Khamma and others.
