BRUCKNERS SEVENTH

image description

image description“I love Schumann and feel sorry for him,” the cellist Steven Isserlis has said. Schumann’s life really was unimaginably tragic, but it also included a great deal of light. This contradiction is heard in his outstanding Cello Concerto, and the second movement will surely disarm even the hardest souls. After an intermission, LNSO will perform Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7, full of sunlit Alpine mountains, the majesty of the organ, a sense of cosmic order, and warm happiness.
