The French les Six is one of the most notable groups in the history of Western music. Put together against their will, these composers are quite diff erent from one another, but fi t together nicely, because they come from a common era, the 1920s, which is a new period in art after the First World War. Down with the approximations of romanticism and impressionism – let us look for the truths of art with a Greek like clarity and neoclassical ease. It is a rare opportunity to hear not only the famous composers, like Milhaud, Honegger and Poulenc, but also the less-known ones, Auric, Durey and Tailleferre, in one concert. Long live the arabesque, the nocturne and the goat!
