The Garden of Destiny is a unique memorial site, built by the collective donations of the Latvian nation. It is a work in progress in Koknese, the heart of Latvia, on an island in the river Daugava, supported by thousands of people and companies living in Latvia and abroad already for ten years. It is an excellent example of landscape architecture combined with the rich natural beauty of Koknese peninsula and the flow of Daugava, comprising the Friendship Avenue, an amphitheatre guarded by the Oaktree Guard of Honour, a multifunctional building, digital exhibition Liktens Gāte (The Path of Destiny), the Big Mountain, and an observation terrace.
The Garden of Destiny gathers around 70.000–100.000 yearly visitors, about 30% of which are children and the young.
