The idea of a Baltic Symphony Festival comes from our Lithuanian colleagues, and we salute it as a truly great one. How would we otherwise know what is happening in our neighbouring countries if we are often too busy to go either to Tallinn or Vilnius? Now Tallinn and Vilnius will come to us, and we shall visit them. See, Lithuanians are going to present Ravel’s so called Left Hand Concerto with the soloist Vestards Šimkus, the sound painter Čiurlionis childhood’s sunny pine forests and Stravinsky’s springtime orgies in the wildest depths of Russia.
