The concert is the second installment following the 2016 tango music programme Piazzolla and Galliano for the same group of instruments.
Raimonds Melderis is the originator and the initiator of the programme that brings together a traditional chamber music ensemble (string quartet and double bass), accordion, and guitar in a refined, vibrant concert of popular compositions.
The new programme includes classical tango composer Astor Piazzolla, as well as Tangamente by Italian jazz accordionist Fausto Beccalossi. ‘Music ir my alphabet,’ thus Beccalossi, who has performed with Gianluigi Trovesi, Al Di Meola, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and other giants.
Kārlis Lācis’ Tango Variations were originally recorded with the LNSO string quartet for the Moscow Pushkin Drama Theatre production Shakespeare in Love, and they have now been arranged for accordion, string quartet, and double bass, giving birth to entirely new music, ready to meet its audience on 21 March at the Great Guild.
