LNSO IN LATVIA’S INDEPENDENCE DAY

LNSO 2017/18_logo

The LNSO celebrates Latvia’s 99th anniversary in Līvāni. It will perform in a slightly smaller group than usual as the LNSO chamber orchestra, led by Guntis Kuzma. The programme includes music by Latvian composers, both entertaining, both contemplating.

Pēteris Butāns’ lively Holiday Music, solo by the very young violin virtuoso Daniil Bulayev; Valts Pūce’s Perpetuum mobile (Perpetual Motion), an attempt to invent the inventable; Andris Vecumnieks’ Sentimental Stilization, solo by Anna Marija Kubecka, and, among others pieces, the popular composer Kārlis Lācis’ Rhythm Drive – a vitally pulsating, enlivening piece for four soloists, the Riga Saxophone Quartet.

Let us also give way to reflection with Ēriks Ešenvalds’ enchanting Nocturne and Emīls Dārziņš’ symphonic classic – Melancholy Waltz, the evergreen garland adorning the celebration concert.
