The programme includes light and uplifting musical rarities. First up, there is a master of English 20th century music Vaughan Williams with a work on a sacral theme by English Renaissance composer Tallis. This is followed by a concerto by Copland, which is moving in its beauty and invites you to dance to Brazilian, boogie-woogie, and Charleston rhythms. You will also hear a sparkling and entertaining piece by Lithuanian composer Arvydas Malcys, who calls it a post scriptum to Mozart. The final piece of the concert is Stravinsky’s Pulcinella, a display of dell’arte comedy characters in an elegant musical outfit.
