LNSO, CHOIR LATVIJA AND EIN DEUTSCHES REQUIEMBrahms: the complete symphonies

Bramss3_kvadr

It had been a year since Wagner’s departure to a better world, yet Brahms and Wagner aficionados were still in opposing camps, and the first performance of a Brahms symphony could still lead to fighting with no holds barred. Still, the success was great and the passionate theme of the third movement became an object of pop-culture, used, among others, by Sinatra, Santana and Gainsbourg. The German Requiem might feel like being from another world, but the Third Symphony is quite concordant with this brilliant, measured, yet emotionally highly charged dedication to the path of human life from love to eternity.
