LNSO. VASKS. SHOSTAKOVICHBALTIC SYMPHONY FESTIVAL CONCERT

BSF_Latvija_kvadr

April 16, 2016, is the 70th anniversary of Pēteris Vasks. One of the accents of this festive event will be LNSO’s rendering of lauda, a piece that was among the fi rst heralds of Vasks’ new musical language, written when the composer had not reached middle age yet and was looking towards more harmonious, monumental expression. Eva Bindere will be the star of the fi rst part of the concert, performing Beethoven’s popular Violin Concerto. Andris Poga will then return to his beloved Shostakovich and conduct his First, written at the age of 19, a lively, energetic symphony, at times rowdy, at times immensely beautiful.
