It’s not just audiences that love Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto; violinists enjoy it, too. Solo by Taiwan-born Yu-Chien Tseng who won the second prize in the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 2015 (the first prize was not awarded). In addition, Shostakovich’s Symphony no. 10: a few months after Stalin’s death in March, 1953, Shostakovich began working on one of his most profound compositions. The entire programme is led by maestro Fedoseyev, who is always welcome in Riga.
