Artūrs Šults has been the principal of the horn group of LNSO as of 2009 and first horn player of Sinfonietta Rīga since the founding of that orchestra (2006).
The musician is a one-time first place winner at Juris Jurjāns International Horn Competition Jaunais mežradznieks and a two-time first place winner at the Jurjānu Andrejs Competition. He has been a musician with the Rīga Professional Symphonic Band, and Liepāja Symphony Orchestra; he has also played with the JVLMA Symphony Orchestra as well as the chamber orchestras Konsonanse and Sinfonia Concertante, Riga Festival Orchestra etc.
Šults has studied at the Emīls Dārziņš Music School (with Inga Kalniņa) and JVLMA, obtaining a master’s degree (class of Arvīds Klišāns). He has perfected his skills in masterclasses with Esa Tapani, Christian Lampert, Kalervo Kulmala, Martin van de Merwe and Frøydis Ree Wekre.
