Inga Kalna is much in demand in Europe as a brilliant interpreter of baroque, classical and, in recent years, also romantic repertoire. Her soprano is saturated with color, her technique of coloratura admirable and sense of style precise and competent. Inga Kalna has performed with the Hamburg Staatsoper, Wiener Staatsoper, Paris National Opera, La Monnaie of Brussels, La Scala, the Salzburg Festival, the Bolshoi as well as other prestigious concert venues and festivals. Inga Kalna’s repertoire consists of lyrical soprano parts, chamber music and large-scale works by almost all the important Western European composers, including sacred opuses by Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Berlioz and Verdi and Mahler’s Fourth Symphony.

Among her most brilliant successes have been the collaboration with René Jacobs in the staging and recording of operas by Mozart and Handel and with Mark Minkowski in performing Handel’s oratorio Il trionfo del tempo e disinganno at Berliner Staatsoper as well as her triumph as Alcina in Paris. Inga Kalna has performed and recorded with such conductors as Simone Young, Colin Davis, Ingo Metzmacher, Marc Soustrot. In addition to singing on stage and performing oratorios, Kalna is a rare but willing performer of chamber music and singing with an organ accompaniment.

Inga Kalna studied singing at the Latvian Music Academy and the Royal Music Academy in London where she received several prizes. Her studies in musicology at the JVLMA have fostered her maturing as an artist. She has been a soloist with the Latvian National Opera and Hamburg Staatsoper. Kalna is a three-time recipient of the Latvian Grand Music Award (1995, 1998, 2002).
