American soprano Latonia Moore made an unexpected and triumphant debut at the Metropolitan Opera in March 2012 replacing Violeta Urmana as Aida. Her performance was broadcast on live radio and was received rapturously by the press and public alike. Particularly associated with this role, she has gone on to sing Aida with great success at Covent Garden; the Opernhaus Zurich; Opera Australia; the New National Theatre in Tokyo; the Dallas, San Diego, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Detroit Operas and at the Ravinia Festival with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under James Conlon. Other recent successes on the opera stage have included Elisabetta Don Carlo for Opera Australia; Cio-Cio San Madama Butterfly at the Metropolitan Opera; the title role in Tosca for New York City Opera; Liù Turandot at Covent Garden; Amelia in both Un ballo in maschera and Simon Boccanegra and Cio Cio San for the Hamburg State Opera; Liù, Mimi La bohème and Cio Cio San at Dresden’s Semperoper.

She has also sung Nedda I Pagliacci in a gala concert at La Monnaie, Brussels and Bess Porgy and Bess with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Rattle. Highlights on the concert platform have included Mahler’s Symphony no. 2 with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Paavo Järvi; Verdi’s Requiem with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Robert Spano, in the Teatro Verdi in Trieste with Daniel Oren and in Milan with Lorin Maazel, and James Conlon and Mahler’s Symphony no. 4 at the Festival de Paques de Deauville France, broadcast on TV. Latonia Moore has recorded the role of Lady Macbeth Macbeth with Edward Gardner for Chandos and Mahler’s Symphony no. 2 with the Vienna Philharmonic and Gilbert Kaplan for Deutsche Grammophon.
